I chanced upon an article, Fast Impressions, in Mid-Day on Speed Dating. I was interested in knowing the details about the topic as we are more or less involved with speed dating on the internet called Live Speed Dating. However, I was flabbergasted by the usage of words by the columnist who wrote the article.
She seemed surprised when people greeted her “Hi”, “Hello” and termed them unnecessarily bold. Come on, why don’t we Indians come out of that cocoon of stubborness and be more open-minded? I have encountered total strangers who greeted me first and I felt sad that I was not the first. Eventually, I learnt and now I greet people on flights as soon as I sit down. Saying “Good Morning” or “Good Everning” to a total stranger is good and makes you feel comfortable later on.
Why should we think greeting someone and taking the initiative to say “Hello”, as derogatory to one’s status?

It is the mindset where anyone trying to make human contact first is immediately sterotyped as a potential psycopath!
