MTNL or the Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd. is another corrupt organization even at the grassroot level. You have to bribe their connection men or line-men to get your new line connected. Our new office requested for a new MTNL Line which was our second line from MTNL. The first one too, faced a similar fate but it got installed atleast within a month’s time.

We requested for the second line on the 19th of August, 2005 with the Consumer No. 2080301205 but till date (i.e. 29th September, 2005) it hasn’t materialised. The line-men did ask for their bribe which we did not give. We had told them that we will give the same if they get the line and their DataOne internet connection well on time.

The irony is that we payed a sum of Rs. 3000 on the registration date, 19th August, 2005 which got debited from our account in the next 2 days. The current state is thus, they got paid and we haven’t got our connection yet.

This is how we live in our Indian bureaucracy, corruption, laziness and the one-century-backward-thinking approach.
