Dhoom 2 - Bollywood did it

Dhoom 2I am an ardent Movie fan but Bollywood was always at the slag in my ranking because of their stupidity, larger than life treatment at the wrong time, irritatingly funny attitude, horrible incorrigible actings. But of late, Bollywood is coming off age and the recent Dhoom 2 movie proved that we are not behind Hollywood that much. Personally, I can still use my finger to count the number of Hindi Movies that I’ve seen in theaters or cinema halls.

Dhoom 2 was a movie that comes off with the biggest Dhoom in Hindi cinema. Everybody were at their best in the movie. Directed by Sanjav Gadhvi, Dhoom 2 is a sequence to the 2004 Block Buster Dhoom. Jai Dixit (Abhishek Bachchan) is still the cop and his wife, Sweety Dixit (Rimi Sen) is pregnant in Dhoom 2 and thus stays back with a special appearance. No more of a sexy song sequence from her. We have 2 new thieves this time, Aryan Singh aka A (Hrithik Roshan) and a small time thief Suneri (Aishwarya Rai). To my unexpected surprise Ali Akbar Fateh Khan (Udya Chopra) did a good job here as Mumbaiya Tapori turned cop. Sonali Bose (Bipasha Basu) is the newly introduced cop who virtually did nothing more than a cool song sequence - Don’t Touch Me. However, she did a fabulous job as Monali Bose (Bipasha Basu) as the twin sister of Sonali Bose who have left India for Brazil. I would have voted her for a Bond Girl if we are pick an Indian girl for a Bond Girl. Again, she does nothing more than being a comic, libido relief and an eye candy to the Movie, the Plot, the sequences.

Of course, Hrithik did more than 15 different get ups in the movie and that looks amazing in itself. He did his stunts and actions too with amazing precision and coolness. Well, it defied many laws of Physics but they don’t look stupid. Hrithik Roshan did roller-blading, sky diving, sand boarding, jumping off a cliff (with Aishwarya) and various other extreme stunts. It is learnt that the Mumbai Flood during July 26, 2005 destroyed the sets of Dhoom 2 and had to shoot at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Dhoom 2 is supposedly the biggest print release with over 1,200 prints including regional dubbed language.

My only concern was with Aishwarya Rai. She was not that good as compared to the other casts. Her speeches and dialogue were so made-up like, her beauty seem to have worn out (she is old, of course). She was not in the character of Suneri, something is not so in place. Besides that, the movie looks cool and is worth a watch. Enjoy!
