Kabul Express - An Awesome Movie

Kabul ExpressFirst of all, this is an awesome, utterly amazing and sizzlingly sleek movie. Indian cinemas are going places and this is one that will take it further. Kabir Khan have given us one hell of a kick ass thriller. Kabul Express is Kabir Khan?s first feature and is a thriller involving five individuals ? two Indians (Suhel Khan & Jai Kapoor), a Pakistani (Imran Khan Afridi), an Afghan (Khyber) and an American (Jessica Beckham). And yes, they are all cast according to the nationality of the characters.

The movie is set in post 9/11, the Taliban soldiers are trying to escape to Pakistan to avoid the Afghans. The movie is shot entirely in Kabul. It is learnt that even the actors were sent death threats by the Taliban to stop the shooting. However, they continued under the tight security of the Afghan government. The location look scenic, the mountains and the sands were breath taking. However, some of the scenes of the desert seem to repeat.

Suhel Khan (John Abraham) and Jai Kapoor (Arshad Warsi) are two TV journalists from India in search of the ultimate news — meeting Taliban. They took the help of an Afghan guide, translator and driver, Khyber (Hanif Hum Ghum) who took them in his Toyota Jeep aptly called the Kabul Express. Imran Khan Afridi (Salman Shahid) is a soldier of the hated Taliban who needs to escape the wrath of the Afghans and run to his country, Pakistan. Jessica Beckham (Linda Arsenio) is an American photojournalist who would do anything to photograph the Taliban.

I love the ticklish comical timing of Jai Kapoor. He had been moving up the rank ever since MunnaBhai MBBS and Lage Raho MunnaBhai. His delivery of dialogues depicts that of real life situations and are hadke away from the cinematic spiced speeches that we hear on a typical Indian cinema. Suhel Khan is on the serious side of the equation; a rather down to earth, life respecting person. Imran Khan Afridi was cool. I liked his quarrel with Jai specially on the Cricket argument about Imran Khan or Kapil Dev being the All Rounder and how they took turn on being the superior with the Gun in their hands. He also believes that Indian cigarettes are better than the ones in Afghanistan.

Note

This movie was a real reliever for me from the horrible drag that I went through yesterday with Baabul. What were they thinking? Are they playing dolls, marriage, kitchen work or something more stupid? How can they make such a sick Movie?

By the way, I saw The Guardian the other day and of course DOA: Dead or Alive the next day.
