And you were complaining about Mumbai’s Traffic?

The Real ChinaSo, you were complaining about the horrific traffic in Mumbai and other Indian Metros? Why not have a look at the plight of the Chinese – The Real China.

Some of the photographs show the horrifying truths of some section of the Chinese region. Look at the people trying to get into the trains which are few in numbers, so the people are trying to enter through the windows. That strikes similar train scenes in Mumbai but not that bad at all. And the line of women to the bathroom which takes them longer than 45 minutes. Even garbage pickers need to purchase admission tickets. Many Chinese sells blood for their livelihood. Children help their parents flatten the earth by laying their bodies on the wooden plank while the parents pull the same with ropes. Even school going kids are not spared from doing some aerobics, many have to cross bridges on tight ropes about 4 times a day.

Sin City

Sin CityLet me do the DVD review of Sin City today, a movie I saw when it was released during April, 2005 in the US (it was never released in India as far as I can recollect). I am pretty sure the DVD released in India would have been heavily chopped, thank got I got my copy during my later visit at the end of 2005 from Borders. This is not a typical easy English Hollywood movie, so my suggestion is to turn on the sub-title to your DVD to enjoy the awesome slangy dialogues of the movie.

Why HDTV is not yet suited for most Indians!

I’m 99% sure that India do not have a single TV Channel that is HDTV enabled! To enjoy your HDTV, one have to realized the fact that it needs a HD Cable or Satellite feed. Even most DVDs are common DVDs and not HD enabled. So, if most of the common visual quality that we encounter here in India are non-High-Definition, why should you look out for one or why should Shops sell one? Here are some fact that one should keep in mind to help decide if they should go for a HDTV or not. Of course, if you are a serious console gamer (PS3, Xbox 360), go for it.

HDTV needs an HD feed
Just plugging your regular cable or satellite box (Dish TV) into your new HD set won’t get you a high-def picture. You’ll need to contact your cable or satellite provider and ask for an HD set-top box (satellite subscribers may also have to upgrade their dishes), and you may want to sign up for an HD subscription plan, as well which are costlier.

Ta Ra Rum Pum

Ta Ra Rum PumA romantic Yash Raj Film’s production released today, Ta Ra Rum Pum, tells the story of Raj Veer (RV) Singh (Saif Khan) who is sort of a NASCAR racer. The movie is a bit like an Indian-ised romantic spell winged-on of the Days of Thunder (with Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman in the lead) though I heard Saif claiming against it on the 93.5 FM.

One noticeable difference with this big banner movie was that, the entirety of the story took place in the United States (I know this is not new for Bollywood). It looks like they realized that the Indian terrain, even some of the best places in Mumbai, are best left to the K*-alized serials from Ekta Kapoor. Even they are spending crores to do their shots these days.

Eat our Mangoes and we’ll drive your Harley Davidson

In a rather smart agreement by India, the United States finally agreed to import our Alphanso and Kesar mangoes in lieu of their Harley Davidson bikes for India. To mark the agreement, the first shipment of 150 boxes of mangoes acquired clearance from the Indian customs yesterday and will be on its export-bound to the Big Apple. This is the first of such mango shipment in 18 years.

Finally its over, err, The Abhiash wedding!

Abhishek was set to marry Aishwarya on the 20th of this month. Media speculations had begun well in advance. However as the d-day drew closer, the media just lost it. I wanted to write about this last week itself, but the whole episode just made me sooooo nauseated. I mean, its not like someones getting married for the first time on this planet. The media just overdid the whole thing. Whats the big deal about a celeb getting married?

Apart from the media there was some girl claming to have married Abhishek. For lord’s sake when will these cheepos stop vying for publicity. It was a damn cheap publicity stunt.

Some people believed that he has a lot of sex appeal and a hollywood smile. He is new and he is not-horrible. However, it is a fact that he is not that good with American Popular songs.
