Mr. Bean’s Holiday

Mr. Bean's HolidayI’ve always known him as Mr. Bean and not Rowan Atkinson. In this movie, Mr. Bean wins the Church raffle prize trip to France and of course, as it is Mr. Bean, the whole plan twist and turns. At the onset of his journey – at the train station, he asked for a man (Karel Roden) to shoot him with his camcorder but somehow messed up the situation in such a way that the man was left behind and separated from his son.

His whole holiday turns into an ordeal trying to re-unite the son to his father – he even got filmed on the sets of self-centric director/actor/producer/financer Carson Clay (Willem Dafoe) which eventually sets the importance of his camcorder and the video at the end. Watch out for his video camcorder shots – that’s going to be one of the pivotal steer-factor of the movie plot.

India’s 1st commercial rocket launched

PSLVYesterday, a Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV), was launched from the Sriharikota base in South India at about 3:30 pm, making it India’s 1st Commercial Rocket to be launched in space. It is carrying a 352kg Italian satellite which will gather information about the origins of the universe, the AFP news agency reports. It is reported that India is being paid $11 million to launch the Italian satellite.

The PSLV model rocket was first launched in 1994. It puts satellites into orbits where they cross above the earth’s poles. At present, the PSLV rocket only has the capability of carrying relatively lighter loads of under 1,500 kgs. However, India’s Space Program Officials are hooping to change that with time.

TMNT

TMNTThank god, it was a short movie of just 1 and half hour, TMNT wasn’t such a good movie at all. I was surprised yesterday that Cinemax cancelled its second show and decided to have just one show during the day for TMNT. I know the reason now. Besides the movie being not that good as expected, Mr. Bean’s Holidays have stole the thunder at the Movie halls. Released almost a month later than the US version, Indian halls were screening TMNT since last Friday, 20th April, 2007. I liked TMNT when I was a kid and thus this was a movie not to be missed – but I was disappointed. So, my suggestion to those TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle) fans, the movie is fine for a one time watch and forget, no need for a DVD collection, it is not even worth mentioning to your friends that you saw it. Even the good CGI computer works were unable to save the movie. I am pretty sure the movie will not the see its second week here in India.

“Do Not Call” regulations to be implemented

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) finally issued the norms that simply require you to opt for the “Do not Call” (DNC) registry service, which telephone companies will be obliged to provide free of cost once the rules are notified. Any unwanted calls, after you have registered, could result in disconnection of phones used by the tele-marketers. To make the deterrence stronger, the regulator has suggested that violators be made to pay between Rs. 500 to Rs. 1000 for every call they make until the complaint is processed and penalty imposed.

Mumbai Airport to be fully free Wi-Fi

It is good news on a Tuesday morning to know that Mumbai Airport, both Domestic and International, are now fully Wi-Fi-ed and that too FREE. This is a must-have in the time when there is huge congestion in the Indian Air Space, flight delays, et al.

However, the free Wi-Fi may become a paid one in future but that should be fine if their service is good. The internet connectivity and technology is provided by Bharati Airtel Ltd. There will be no inter-connectivity with the internal Airport network at the airport. The current Wi-Fi network is purely for Internet Access. Every user who accesses the Net will be authenticated and provided a user name and password.

The Good German

The Good GermanIf you’re really going for this movie, here is a suggestion – take the red lounge. That’s what I did; I watch it at the Cinemax Red Lounge where you can recline your super-cushioned sofa so well that you’ll doze off if the movie stops thrilling you along. The Good German did and I slept off a bit once just before the break; yes, here in India, we have a break in between a movie unlike the US who likes to enjoy their movies at a stretch. I don’t really see a reason why you should waste your time on this movie unless you’re a war veteran or your relatives died during the second world war.

The Cyber Crime Cell of Mumbai feels that Orkut is a threat to the Nation’s security and thus be blocked!
