Roman Holiday

Roman Holiday“I’ve never been alone with a man before, even with my dress on. With my dress off, it’s MOST unusual.”

The 1953 movie Roman Holiday, starring Audrey Hepburn, in her first feature role, and Gregory Peck, is a charming and captivating fairytale romance shot entirely on location in Rome. The film’s bittersweet story is a charming romantic-comedy, and is reportedly based on the real life Italian adventures of the British Princess Margaret.

Harry Potter – 8th Book to rule them all

Harry PotterThe multi-millionaire writer of the Harry Potter fame, J.K. Rowling, is understood to be preparing for one last look at the world of Harry, Hermione, Dumbledore and Voldemort after the publication of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in July. There will indeed be an 8th Harry Potter book, which will be like an encyclopedia of magic to create the ultimate guide to the world of wizardry.

I can see this book being sold as much as any other Harry Potter series. The book is expected to cover historical figures, such as the founders of Hogwarts school, along with elaborate genealogies of the main characters. It would also provide a chance to flesh out other figures who merit only a passing mention in the books.

Dollar Bahu

“Dollar Bahu” is the English translation of one of Sudha Murty’s most popular novels “Dollar Sose”, originally written in Kannada and earlier translated into four other Indian languages. It even ran as TV-Series between 2001-2004.

Like most other novels of Sudha Murty, this novel too dwells on the aspirations, dreams and struggles of traditional middle–class Indian families — this time vividly portraying the promise of plenty that the US dollar holds for the Indian steeped in middle–class mundane living.

Book: Casino Royale

Casino RoyaleI read Ian Fleming‘s first James Bond fiction Novel – Casino Royale when I was still in 7th or 8th grade. It was because I saw Dr. No and wanted to read James Bond novels. I can hardly recollect the story and I felt it needs a reading again.

Casino Royale involves James Bond in espionage at a glamourous Continental casino. The book itself isn’t the same as the fast paced Casino Royale Movie.

Casino Royale is the one that introduced James Bond to us. The story is net in the 1930′s, with an aroma of the postwar Cold War scenes. The book gives us the vivid likes of James Bond – Casinos and Women (not in any particular order). In our story, James Bond felt for the incredibly sensuous Vesper Lynd. They teamed up to foil the game plan of Le Chiffre, the Russain agent who is having a hard time with his invesment losing front and back.

Mistress of Spices Tastes Bland!

Mistress of SpicesAs a rendition of the bestseller by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, The Mistress of Spices is a bitter disappointment.

To begin with, it is a foregone conclusion that any movie in which Aishwarya Rai has the pivotal role is bound to bomb at the box office. In addition, the intricate detail which makes the book so enthralling is totally absent from the movie, making it seem incomplete to those who have been fortunate enough to read the book, and thoroughly confusing to those who haven’t.

What’s the Hurry?

Busy TrafficWe are all whizzing through life, with our foot firmly pressed on the accelerator. Zooming from one milestone to another, life for most of us just resembles distant scenery that we occasionally glimpse in the rear-view mirror. With our eyes clearly trained towards the road ahead, we hurry on. And on. And on. And on. Without the faintest clue as to where we are going, as we are in such a hurry that we don’t even read the signboards that probably read : stop and smell the roses.
