I can still remember the chaotic traffic, everyday news when Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, last year in Pune, India while they were shooting for A Mighty Heart. Yes, the streets of Pakistan and everything else Pakistan that you see in the movie were shot in Pune. The home of Mariane Pearl (Angelina Jolie) was shot somewhere in Aundh in Pune, India. However, some of the exteriors and other scenes of the kidnapping of Daniel Pearl (Dan Futterman) were shot in Karachi, Pakistan. The child delivery and the hospital was shot in Mumbai, India.
A Mighty Heart is based on Mariane Pearl’s account of the terrifying and unforgettable story of her husband, Wall Street Journal reporter Danny Pearl’s life and death. Danny was kidnapped in Karachi by supporters of Omar Sheikh who claimed responsibility (and was later captured and convicted but is appealing the ruling) for kidnapping and beheading Pearl in 2002.
Irfan Khan did an awesome acting as a passionate but ultimately impotent Pakistani Captain. Btw, the Hindi dialogue is well better-off for people who understands Hindi. The English translation was unable to bring in that punch.
A Mighty Heart was released in India on 26th October, 2007 (US release was 22nd June, 2007).
