Aishwarya will play Mumtaz in Ben Kingsley’s Taj Mahal

The Internet is now flooded with news that Aishwarya will play Mumtaz Mahal in Sir Ben Kingsley’s Taj Mahal which feature him as Shah Jahan.

The film is likely to begin shooting next year in Agra and Fatehpuri Sikri. Mumtaz is Shah Jahan’s 3rd wife and she dies during her 14th childbirth. The Taj Mahal was constructed (construction finished in 1648) as tomb for Mumtaz Mahal.

Kingsley said, “The movie is on the building of the Taj Mahal. The romance will also include Shah Jehan’s abject isolation for years in a prison cell. I had spoken to Aishwarya last year while we were working on The Last Legion and she very generously agreed to do the movie with me. My production house is working with a screenwriter on the project. I have very clear ideas about how I want to approach the subject.”

Note: Taj Mahal is one of the 7 wonders of the World.
