Bridge to Terabithia

Bridge to TerabithiaAfter the success of Harry Potter’s Book to Movie adaptation; there have been lots of such happenings and Bridge to Terabithia is another. Cinematical have “an interview (Interview with Bridge to Terabithia Screenwriter David Paterson)”:http://www.cinematical.com/2007/02/16/interview-bridge-to-terabithia-screenwriter-david-paterson/ with Screenwriter David Paterson. It looks like the movie was good to the book and for those of us who have not read the book were disappointed with the Narnia-like expectation.

Honestly, the “trailer (trailer)”:http://www.apple.com/trailers/disney/bridgetoterabithia/hd/ was a total bait and the movie turn out to be a totally different story. If you’re expecting another Walden Media’s Narnia movie, then this definitely is not. The special effects, the characters that we saw in the trailer was like the left-over from Narnia. Bridge to Terabithia is movie where a story is well told; a sensitive story that can melt your heart at some scenes.

The story is about a small school in a yet smaller town where everybody knows one another. Two different-from-others 5th grade students become friends and how they realize and lived their fantasies. Jesse Aarons (Josh Hutcherson) from the Jathura kid and Leslie Burke (AnnaSophia Robb), the chewing gum girl of the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, become friends and they try to spend time in the kingdom of Terabithia.

The special effects were far less and the movie concentrated on the story of the two kids. Weta Digital that did the effects in Lord of the Rings, brings out the kid’s fantasies to live; however, without taking over the story. There is a sad thing but I won’t spoil it for you. Watch the movie for the story but if you are expecting something like what the trailer shows, then this is not for you. By the way, this is not really a kid’s movie rather a family movie, for the adults and everybody else.
