There were no good movie releases this month and Simpsons was not released in Multiplexes, so I went for Cash, a super-promoted syper-hyped movie supposedly trying to mimic a Hollywood action flick genre. A movie that reminds you of Ocean’s movie (was it 11 or 12?), “Kill Bill”, Cash was a disappointment at best that I never finish writing this review till this lazy wet monsoon weekend.
Cash is about stealing diamonds, marked dollars, voluptuous ladies, skateboards, water skies, helicopters, sun glasses and of course fast cars. But don’t be fooled by the contents - they are so roughly executed, it looks like a second-hand hand-me-down action sequences picked up from numerous Hollywood movies.
Yes, the cartoon character super-imposition looks extremely uncalled for most of the times. The likes of “Kill Bill” and “Sin City” did it to debut their original Comic incarnations and have a distinctive finesse about them. That was horribly lacking with Cash and looks like they are done without any reasoning but just because one of them saw it in those movies.
I saw someone talking about THIS particular idea of cartoon thingy (may be the director of the Movie) on TV and he said “It was kinda cool and we wanted a comic feeling”. Well, Why? What the hell does Cash have to do with a Comic feeling? It would have been better if they had used it sparingly - to introduce the characters for the first time (and not over and over again). They can also used it to fill in the seriously difficult action sequences and to shorten long stories like how “Kill Bill” did it.
If you really want to go for the movie, then you’d be going for the girls - Esha Deol have shaped up and can be seen more with less clothes, Dia Mirza doing the overdone ‘bandana pick-up by leaning to show off the cleavage’ and of course an over-dose of Shamita Shetty. Shamita should have just stick to her Item Numbers or perhaps it is the influence of Shilpa’s over-night popularity that she gets to do more body show and full roles.
