A short one and half hour movie, the silver surfer rises, does the damage and then repent his mistake; save planet earth from Galactus - the energy eating thingy. I missed the movie release as I was vacationing. The movie wasn’t that good but good enough to spend some time enjoying the special effects of which again were nothing new.
Here, Reed Richards (Ioan Gruffudd) and Sue Storm (Jessica Alba) are trying to get married but are unable to escape the media glare nor of the global cry for help from them. On one such occassion while they were about to get married, a supernatural-alike force was on its way to destroy planet earth. Water solidifies on a Japanese Sea, snow falls in the Egyptian desert. On the fateful day of Marriage, Johnny Storm aka Human Torch (Chris Evans) chased and encounters the Silver Surfer (voice of Laurence Fishburne and character by Doug Jones) who surfs a board. The silver surfer is a servant of the villain Galactus, which devours and destroys planets to take away their thermal energy.
The Silver Surfer is a weird villain with a tortured soul traveling the galaxy as an unwilling servant of his cruel master. He surfes awesomely on his intergalactic board. The Fantastic Four with the intervention of Victor Von Doom (Julian MacMahon) came to know that the surfer derives its power from the board. Victor was inducted to the team to fight against the Silver Surfer by General Hager (Andre Braugher) but he have a plan of his own. He was planning to take the board for his own.
Watch out for Stan Lee, the co-creator of the Fantastic Four (and many other Marvel Comics Characters), who does a cameo as “Stan Lee” at Reeds/Sue Marriage but gets rejected by the bouncer. And also don’t leave the theatre so fast when the credit roll starts, wait and see something - it looks like the story of Silver Surfer will continue.
As said before, this is a nice movie but don’t expect anything beyond that.

Although I haven’t seen the first part of this movie, with all the hype, I had expectations. And frankly the movie did not live up to it. Although they have some really neat CG stuff goin on, it doesn’t seem to go on for long at a stretch and some parts are boring.
An average one.
