Gul Panag lost her .com to domain squatters

Gul Panag

Gul Panag is said to have registered her domain gulpanag.com in 2001 but lost it to domain squatters as she failed to renew the .com domain. Now, she is being demanded $20,000 to get back her domain. She is currently working off her .net Domain.

Gul Panag says that the same company from whom she registered earlier is asking for the money. If this is the case, then she should file a cyber crime case against the domain registrar as they are squatting on their own client. I seriously hope she still has the receipts and the other paperworks to go to court.

If this is really the case, I am pretty sure Gul Panag can win over her domain and the domain registrar is wrong. She should have informed her or better yet renewed her domain as she is their client. However, with the fuzzy cyber laws in India, it is confusing what will happen.

Nonetheless, I still insist, she should go to court and fight for it. Gul Panag should realize that a .com domain is far more superior than a .net domain and she has all the rights to get her .com domain back as she had it booked originally.

Guys Gul Panag is taking us all for a ride.

she is using her dull media image to get back on the company who got her site registered initially. The news papers and news channels just want hot news.

I don’t know which was to company but i dug back the whois records to find the truth. SHE IS LYING !!!!

In last 6 years 6 domain registrars where changed while the domain went in for deletion 3 times !!!.

IP History: 16 changes on 7 unique name servers over 3 years.
Whois History: 7 records have been archived since 2003-11-11

I run a webhosting company SkywebIndia.com and encounter numerous cases like these where distressed people call for help for domain retrieval and there is no solution.

Based on my knowledge of last 10 years in webhosting business this has happened.

    1) Gul Panag got he online portfolio done but didn’t bother to update it nor renew the domain since in 2001 websites were not important for her.

    2) She woke up 6 years later realising she needs her domain back and the company from whom she had bought didn’t renew. Why would a company renew a domain from their own pocket for a customer who is not interested in it ?

    3) That designing company must have told her you need to spend $20000 out of which these buggers would pocket US$15000 - 19000 which is wrong but again its her own remarks.

    4) The domain squatters usually charge an average of about Rs. 35000 approx and ranges from US$ 700-5000 to sell the domains. They are seasoned blackmailers and have a proper payment process in place which will assure a smooth domain transfer and their identity not getting disclosed.

Since i live in lokhandwala i always take words of film personalities with a pinch of salt so don’t get overboard on hearing her story of damsel in distress. These beautiful filmy ladies are really arrogant and obnoxious in real life.
