Hollywood is keen to make moolah out of India’s Bollywood. Wait, wait! They are however not trying to conquer it with their Hollywood fanfare. Instead, they want to join hands with Bollywood.
Sony Pictures Entertainment is the first in a wave of American studios to produce their own kaleidoscopic Bollywood musicals - Saawariya - complete with color dance sequences and high pitch songs. Saawariya is a Sanjay Leela Bhansali film starring Salman Khan and Rani Mukherjee. Aishwarya Rai was originally offered the lead role but declined because Salman Khan had already signed.
The American studios are keen to make money in India, but in a notion where $19 of every $20 spent at the box office goes to indigenous films - which is a very good figure to go by for Bollywood. Hollywood had already enjoyed huge profits off India by dubbing Hollywood movies to Hindi and many other vernacular language including the recent Bhojpuri dubbed Spider-man 3.
