Rush Hour 3

Rush Hour 3In 1998, it was cool, funny and I was able to enjoy Jackie Chan’s Kung Fu and Chris Tucker’s comic timings. I endured them again in 2001 and thought, alright, that’s it.

I was expecting an alternate movie this time with Rush Hour 3 but hell, they stayed with the same formula, same idea - it’s just the same.

The first Rush Hour was a huge hit and awesome movie but they don’t have to shove that same thing down our eyes again and again. This is a movie just for kids who want to laugh off for no good reason.

Don’t even worry about the story-line - the chinese crime triad and all those stupidity - just don’t worry about it. The movie is not about the story at all, it about Chief Inspector Lee (Jackie Chan) and Detective James Carter (Chris Tucker) enacting their old tricks yet again to make any new people laugh. If you haven’t seen the first two movies, then this will be a good movie. In fact, if you saw any one of them, it should do the trick. I feel Rush Hour 3 should be best kept for the TV and not even a DVD, it looks more like Jackie Chan badly wanted another Hollywood movie.

As the movie starts, Inspector Lee is guarding the Chinese Ambassador Han (Tzi Ma) who is in LA to reveal the secret list of the 13 Chinese Crime Triad to the World Criminal Court. Han is shot by an assassin, Kenji (Horoyuki Sanada) and Lee chased him. However, Lee let go of his childhood orphan “brother”. Meanwhile, we saw James Carter directing traffic while singing along to his iPod; hmmm, when will movies stop using iPod as a device that can do anything - make you dance, direct traffic, steal data (Transporter 2)! James eventually joins Lee chase Kenji.

Well yes, James and Lee landed up in Paris to find the Chinese Traids who speaks French.

One of the huge development we see here is that James no longer humiliates Lee. James have even learnt Chinese culture, language in the past few years. However, we have a French taxi driver, George (Yves Attal) takes on Americans - the imperialist, colonists, war mongers, skinny females and what not. Nonetheless, he did play an important role in finishing up the movie - a secret service who wear a Lakers Cap and drinks bottled Cappuccino in his car.

The secret about the heads comprising of the Triad lies with a dancer Genevieve (Noemie Lenoir) who takes around the list popularly known as the Shaijen - written on her head.

We have the climax fight scene on top of the Eiffel Tower between Kenji and Lee doing sword fight, then sword-blazer fight. Finally, Lee and James parachutes down using the flag of France.

I honestly feel this should be the last of the Rush Hour franchise.
