Stardust Claire Danes as Yvaine and Charlie Cox as Tristan
Wasn’t really expecting much but Stardust proved to be a magical pleasure to watch. Story is a pretty simple one — Victoria (Sienna Miller) agrees to marry poor village shop-boy Tristan (Charlie Cox) if he can bring her a fallen star.
In his adventure, he had to go beyond the forbidden wall to the mysterious kingdom of Stormhold. The wall (remember Night’s The Village) separates the two village and is guarded by an old man (David Kelly) aging above 90s (which does give him enough time to practice some good kung-fu).
Despite’s the DO-NOT-ENTER warnings, Tristan get past the old man and find the fallen star – Yvaine (Claire Danes). Lord Stormhold (Peter O’Toole) wanted the star and from his dying bed devised a way to send his last three living sons and four dead ones to seek the star. Whichever of the sons captures Yvaine, wins her secret and the throne of Stromhold.
And there is another villain in the whole plot — ancient witch Lamia (Michelle Pfeiffer) and her two sister-witches. If they can find the star and eat her heart, they will all be young and beautiful again. They conjure up all the magic they have left and give it to Lamia to go out in search of Yvaine. But there is a catch, the more stored magic Lamia uses, her beauty starts slipping off her face and body.
Along the way Tristan meets pirate Captain Shakespeare (Robert De Niro) commanding a flying ship and captures lightning. The Captain, while fierce in front of his unwashed men, really enjoys just being girlish.
Stardust is a funny romantic movie. Enjoy this fantastically divine, hilarious and adventurous movie.
