Another movie released late in India, The Holiday is a Funny Love story. Do people really do that? I mean that exchange thingy – exchange cars, homes? The movie revolves around a home exchange, which Amanda (Cameron Diaz) and Iris (Kate Winslet) found each other on the Internet through Google Search and decided to swap homes for the holidays.
This ~130 min movie is about Amanda and Iris and their love stories. Amanda own a successful advertising Studio in Los Angeles. She thus have very little time for her personal life and one day found out that her boyfriend was cheating on her. On the other side of the world, Iris writes for the Daily Telegraph in London. She have a crush on a guy for 3 years but found out that he was cheating on her, dating a lady from the circulation department on the 19th floor. In this similarity, there is one big difference between Amanda and Iris – Amanda can’t cry at all (since she was 15) and Iris cries a lot.
This is one ticklishly sweet movie one should watch and I will not spoil anything by going further into the stories. If you are in love or out of love or about to get into love, this movie will make you feel good, will make you smile and laugh. The dialogues are snappy, cheeky and hilarious at times. This is one movie best enjoyed by watching oneself and never enjoyed through a story-telling. Of course, there isn’t a story to it at all, it is just funny and cool.

Like you, I enjoyed the movie too, so did my husband.
You wondered if people really do exchange homes for their holidays. It is an increasingly popular vacation alternative in the west. Although it takes a bit more preparation time as shown in the movie, it really works! In my experience, home exchange is very safe and a very enriching experience for the people involved. You get to see a new place as a local and have the convenience of a real home at a fraction of the price of a hotel room.
Home Exchange has become such a passion for me that I very recently launched my own home exchange network. I would like to invite you to join – membership is free for a limited amount of time (no strings attached).
