Well, you must have seen the similarities in the picture – the photoshot is strikingly similar – and of course, the makers of The Train forgot to change the tagline of the original Derailed movie – Some Lines Should Never be Crossed. Yeah! I know, that is another sick case of the widely known and accepted fact of plagiarism in Bollywood.
Alright, I am writing about the movie Derailed but it should be enough to give you the plot, storyline of the upcoming movie “The Train” which is expected to be released during the month of June, 2007. Nonetheless, it may be kept in mind that most Bollywood Hindi movies are copied in bits and pieces, sometimes in whole from some lesser rung Hollywood and International Movies, sometimes even from really famous movies. The Train made a bad source of is Inspiration from another low-rung Hollywood movie.
Charles Schine (Clive Owen) works in a Chicago Advertising Firm and is married to a beautiful wife Deanna (Melissa George). They have a daughter Amy (Adisson Timlin) who is sick and they have been keeping their hard-earned savings and waiting on for an experimental treatment to cure their daughter.
Then, things changed the day Charles met a beautiful stranger, Lucinda Harris (Jennifer Aniston) who pays his $9 train ticket as he ran out of cash. That triggers off a conversation, some flirting and they become friends.
Charles checked up on Lucinda on her company’s website – Avery-Price, even calls her up. The website says she is married to a stockbroker with a young daughter and holds a higher executive post. Incidentally, Charles got fired from one of his biggest account which gave him enough leisure time to pursue his extra marital affair.
One evening, they decided to make it out at a Hotel. But, they were ambushed by a French Thug, beats up Charles and rapes Lucinda. After some days, the thug, La Roche (Vincent Cassel) demanded $20,000 to keep the matter quit. Charles pays the money but later La Roche increased the price to $100,000 to really get out of his life.
In the whole melee, one of his colleague got killed and he have to pay up $100,000. Somehow, Charles learnt that Lucinda was just a “Temp” in her office. After tailing her, he found out that he was being conned by their team – Lucinda, La Roche and their associate, Dexter (Xzibit).
Charles was able to kill all of them, including Lucinda. He even got his $100,000 back, treated his daughter. He was however sentenced to 5 months of community service for alleged stealing of the $10,000 that he took from his office. He chose a particular prison and finds La Roche and revenge the death of his colleague, Winston Boyko (RZA).
I’m pretty sure the Hindi version, The Train, will be near similar copy, plus the songs and trademark kiss from Emraan Hashmi. And here is my verdict, Derailed dragged a lot but tends to become nice, quick and watch-able after Charles learns about the con. It is a done and over-done formula. Personally, I don’t like it much and I won’t watch the hindi version anyway.
