Considering the bomb blasts that have created a havoc over the country’s security, the Andhra Pradesh government has brought the Mecca Masjid at Hyderabad under the surveillance of the CCTV and has deployed twenty five security people.
The control room, which was inaugurated by The Minorities Welfare Minister, Mr. Ali Shabbir, has been built at a whopping cost of Rs3.8 million. The minorities welfare department is solely responsible for the development and maintenance of the room explaining that it was the need of the hour keeping in mind the threats from the terrorists last year, and the recent mishaps all over the country.The security control room comprises of nine closed circuit televisions along with fourteen still and rotating cameras for a strict security over and around the mosque area. With hundreds of deities visting the religious mosque every day, there was an urgent need of an effective system of keeping an eye over the huge crowd moving in and out throughout the day.
The equipments that have been installed also consist of six door frame metal detectors and the security troop has been handed over with six metal detectors for the scrutiny purpose.
Shabbir informed that around a million rupees would be spent on the salaries of these security personnel, and if required, they would shell out more as well.
