“Astro Boy” was created by the “god of manga,” Japan’s Osamu Tezuka, in the early 1950s. The iconic character has since found wide popularity around the world as the hero of three acclaimed animated television series spanning the past four decades, besides being one of the top licensed properties for merchandising.

Set in futuristic Metro City, Imagi Studios’ “Astro Boy” is about a young robot with incredible powers created by a brilliant scientist to replace the son he has lost. Unable to fulfill the grieving father’s expectations, our hero embarks on a journey in search of acceptance, experiencing betrayal and a netherworld of robot gladiators, before he returns to save Metro City and reconcile with the man who had rejected him.

Astro Boy releases 23 October 2009 (that’s almost a year from now).

BURN-E is a short film by Pixar Animation Studios based on the movie WALL-E that is attached to the movie’s DVD and Blu-ray release on November 18, 2008.

The short film, directed by WALL-E lead animator Angus MacLane, was produced at the same time as WALL-E, and is included as bonus material to the DVD and Blu-ray release. BURN-E features music composed and conducted by J.A.C. Redford, who was also orchestrator on the film WALL-E.

The short film is based on a character who was briefly seen when WALL-E and EVE fly around the Axiom starliner, and enter through a door, locking a welder robot outside of the ship. This character is a robot named BURN-E, who is seen banging his fists against the door, and ultimately realizing that he has been locked out.

It’s the Halloween party they’ve all been waiting for, to have fun with friends and hang out with fellow Star Wars fans and partners in crime. However, events take a turn when one of their bunch who long ago outgrew his old gang and took on adult responsibilities is suddenly in their midst again. Reconnecting is not easy. That’s the basic premise of the movie Fanboys, by Kyle Newman (director) and Adam F. Goldberg (screenwriter), which was shot in New Mexico in 2006. It may at first sound a bit trivial and maybe even a little cheesy, but the things that have been said about it suggest that you shouldn’t let yourself be fooled by the simplistic-sounding plot. There’s a bit of comedy, a bit of road movie, a bit of drama; overall it sounds like a great blend of elements that will invite not only Star Wars and sci-fi fans to the theaters, but everyone else as well.

Not a bad movie but we’ve seen movies like these very recently and they were better - Happy Feet, Ratatouille. However, it is colorful, imaginative, entertaining. This should be a great movie with the kids.

The movie starts off with Barry’s graduation, his life and his career options. He wants to do more than just make honey throughout his life. He wanted to explore. Luckily, he goes off on a mission with the group of “pollen jockeys” and finds himself lost in New York City.

Barry B. Benson (voice - Jerry Seinfeld), a bee who has just graduated from college, is disillusioned at his lone career choice - making honey. On a special trip outside the hive, Barry’s life is saved by Vanessa Bloome (voice - Renée Zellweger), a florist in New York City. As their relationship blossoms, he discovers humans actually eat honey, and subsequently decides to sue the Humans.

Initiating a lawsuit on behalf of his fellow bees, Barry tries to reclaim their stolen bounty, in the process reversing some several hundred years of peaceful coexistence — not to mention damaging the fragile environmental balance maintained by the bees’ actions.

The courtroom scenes were amusing though — which feature Oprah Winfrey as a judge and John Goodman as a human attorney.

Of course, you have to leave your brains at home and don’t try to grow inside the theatre. No plot, no story per se, it is a plain setup but extremely enjoyable to watch and was a laughter riot.

The movie is about Dr. Ghunghroo (Paresh Rawal) looking for a suitable bride for his nephew Rajiv (Akshay Kumar). The only criteria which turn-out to be an extremely difficult one for Ghunghroo was that the Bride’s family should have no illegal connections, conventional, and virtually no criminal records of any sorts.

At that juncture, Uday Shetty (Nana Patekar), a notorious Gang leader aka “Uday Don” was looking for a Groom for his sister, Sanjana (Katrina Kaif). And his wish was to get her married to a respectable family unlike him and his criminal relations.

Well, in the melee, Rajiv met Sanjana and they fell in love with each other in the typical Bollywood girl-boy romance masala formula complete with dance and song sequences.

BUT why do we need the story for a movie that just flows with funny moments, can tickle your funny bones and make you laugh all along. The only negative thing about the movie was that it over-does their jokes, acts a bit that tends to make you feel that it could have been shorter. The second half of the movie brings in Feroz Khan as the “Godfather” aka Sikander aka “RDS” of the two Dons - Uday Shetty (Nana Patekar) and Majnu (Anil Kapoor).

The songs reeks of the typical Himesh Reshammiya-ic flavor. Did I forgot to tell you that there is song-dance sequence of the sizzling, sexy and scanty clothed Malaika Arora Khan. And yes, there is the bombshell Mallika Sherawat too though she didn’t get much chance to show off her assets.

The locales of Dubai and South Africa give the film a grandiose look. The effects were of course amateurish at best (sorry Prime Focus) and were done more to show off than necessity. The climax scene of the House hanging on the clip was so prominently and glaringly childish. The erased and pasted portions of the scenes were seen and its blurred separation from the surrounding gave away.

Whatever … the movie was fund to watch and is worth the time spent.

Robert Neville (Will Smith) is the last man on Earth and lives in a monstrous house complete with a basement laboratory punctuated with Apple Macs - cinema display, Mac Pro, Macbook Pro - somewhere in Washington Square Park in New York. And perhaps the last dog on Earth is his dog - Samantha (Sam). Sam is notorious for not obeying Robert at all and does what she likes, eats what she wishes.

Robert has been surviving for 3 years alone except for the human-monsters who come out at night. He stocks up on can foods, secure his home with iron walls, works out regularly, and listens to Bob Marley. He even trolls out in the city everyday and broadcast his message on AM frequency radio seeking if anyone else is alive.

Robert, a 50+ Army doctor who is immune to the devastation, still works in his lab to find a cure to bring back the “Dark Seekers” to more human form and behavior.

If you’re a fan of Will Smith, this movie is the right one for you. I am Legend is all of Will Smith and the eerily depopulated silence that surrounds him. The movie is set in the year 2012, after a mutated virus destroyed all of mankind starting its infection in 2009.

Will Smith’s 7 year old daughter Willow Smith made her debut in this movie. She plays Robert’s daughter Marley Neville in the movie. Marley - after the singer Bob Marley.

The movie is based on the 1954 novel I am Legend by Richard Matheson and has been made twice - The Last Man on Earth (1964) and The Omega Man (1971).

I would say that the movie rested on Will Smith’s shoulder and he carried it so well, it was just magic. The special effects, the sets of New York City, is fantabulous. And yes, it has a smooth ending which caters to a morality tale that we like to live with.

I am Legend ranks as the best December opening of all time, beating the $72.6 million start for Lord of the Rings: Return of the King in 2003. The film also earned $20 million from eight Asian markets, opening at No. 1 in Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, Indonesia and India, and at No. 2 in Hong Kong.
